DeltaTrak, Intelleflex partner on cold chain tracking

Data tracking and cold chain management have come together in the form of a partnership between Intelleflex Inc. and DeltaTrak Inc. that will allow DeltaTrak to expand its product line.

The partnership allows DeltaTrak, Pleasanton, Calif., to offer the XC3 Technology-based radio frequency identification tags and readers from Intelleflex, Santa Clara, Calif., under the DeltaTrak brand, according to an April 24 news release.

Intelleflex’s XC3 readers and tags deliver on-demand data visibility for monitoring field to store temperatures of fresh produce. Produce can be managed throughout the cold chain without requiring unloading of pallets or opening of containers, while meeting industry regulations for traceability and food safety, according to the release.

With the partnership, DeltaTrak offers the Intelleflex fixed, cellular and handheld readers and TMT-8500 temperature monitoring tags. The recently launched cloud-based Zest Data Services from Intelleflex will be available to DeltaTrak customers.

Frederick Wu, president of DeltaTrak, said in the release the partnership allows the integration of XC3Technology RFID products into DeltaTrak’s applications designed to enhance food safety and compliance with regulations.

The Intelleflex XC3 Technology-based equipment support the ISO/IEC 18000-6:2010 standard for Class 3 battery-assisted passive RFID and the EPCglobal C1G2 standard for passive RFIDs.

The XC3 products are designed to function in environments considered unfriendly to radio frequency equipment, including through metals and liquids. They also work for items in motion. They have a range up to 300 feet and can penetrate packaging, allowing for informed decisions about product shipments and inventory rotation that can reduce shrink of perishable items.
