Albertsons produce departments in Southern California featured Disney-themed displays of stone fruit from Scattaglia Growers & Shippers for three weeks in July and August.

Traver, Calif.-based Scattaglia Growers provided plums, nectarines and peaches.

Participating Albertsons also hosted family events during the first two weekends to promote healthier eating. Stores offered balloons, face painting, stickers and temporary tattoos.

Each store created a custom display for the Disney-themed fruit and competed with each other for prizes.

Criteria included quality and freshness, presentation and use of point-of-sale components. Five first-place stores received $500 in American Express gift cards. Five second-place stores received $250 in the same card. Ten third-place stores each won $100 in Albertsons gift cards. Several stores received honorable mentions.

“We really enjoy bringing this program to our stores each year,” Sheryl Salazar, Albertsons assistant produce sales manager, said in a news release. “Not only do our customers enjoy seeing the displays and participating in the events, but our associates always impress with the creative ways they highlight the wide selection of stone fruit.”
