The effort was a funding partnership through the two companies, said Christopher Brand, public and community relations manager for Giant.
The salad bars benefitted Parkland School District in Breinigsville, Pa.
This donation benefits children and Giant Food Stores, said Jeff Beaulieu, vice president of sales and merchandising, in a news release.
“When children have the chance to sample fresh fruits and vegetables at school, they’re more likely to ask for them at home,” he said. “This is a wonderful example of how schools and businesses can work together to create healthier communities.”
To date, nearly 2,500 salad bars have been donated to schools thanks to the program, serving more than 1.2 million children annually.
