No illnesses have been reported as of the morning of March 14.
Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc., Monterey, Calif., initiated the voluntary recall after the pathogen was found in a random sample tested by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, according to a Dole news release.
The salads were distributed in 15 states — Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia — plus the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec.
The recalled products appear under four labels:
- Dole Italian Blend, universal product code 7143000819;
- Fresh Selections Italian Style Blend, UPC 1111091045;
- Little Salad Bar Italian Salad, UPC 4149811014; and
- Marketside Italian Style Salad, UPC 8113102780.
They’re coded A058201A or B with a use-by date of March 12. It’s considered unlikely that any product remains on the shelf, but retailers were advised to check inventories and remove included products.
