To learn the latest on produce nutrition trends, staffers from Dole Food Co. Inc., are visiting the company’s research laboratory at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, N.C.
During the Aug. 11-12 visit, all of the marketing staffers of the Westlake Village, Calif.-based Dole were scheduled to visit the Dole Nutrition Research Laboratory and other facilities on the campus, according to a news release.
The visit included nutritional education and information about fruit and vegetable research being conducted at the analytical chemistry laboratory.
The sales and marketing personnel from the Monterey, Calif.-based Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc., plan a similar trip to the facilities later this year, according to a news release.
The visits are designed to educate Dole’s personnel about the science supporting fruit and vegetable research and also help them present the findings to stimulate increased overall produce appreciation, recipe use and in-home preparation, according to the release.
“Understanding the health benefits of fresh fruit and vegetables, and being able to pass that information on to customers, is a valuable tool in each Dole representative’s tool box,” Nicholas Gillitt, Dole Foods’ vice president of nutrition research and the institute’s director, said in the release.
The visits should also help sales and marketing personnel to better promote the value of produce consumption to retailers, chefs, dieticians, bloggers and the general public, according to the release.
