Dole strawberry workers vote to keep union

United Farm WorkersDole strawberry workers in California’s Monterey Bay region have voted to retain their representation by United Farm Workers.

The election was last Oct. 25. A recent count by the state’s Agricultural Labor Relations Board showed 346 votes in favor of the union, and 175 against, according to a news release.

United Farm Workers represents 638 Dole strawberry workers in the region, plus another 250 in Ventura County who were not affected by the election.

With the vote count in, the union and its members anticipate a contract renegotiation.
