Duda Farm Fresh Foods Inc. is helping promote fresh produce consumption by becoming a national strategic partner of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Nutrition Communicator’s Network.

The partnership involves the fresh division of Oviedo, Fla.-based A. Duda & Sons Inc. agreeing to promote produce supporting the USDA’s dietary guidelines and MyPlate messages starting with the “Make Half Your Plate Fruits and Vegetables,” according to a news release.

Duda promotes the importance of smart snacking as part of an overall healthy diet through its “Plateless MyPlate On-the-Go” campaign. Duda launched the promotion with www.simplesnacking.com which highlights portable snacks.

Duda also recently helped increase My Plate messaging awareness by joining USDA national strategic partner Stemilt Growers Inc., Wenatchee, Wash., in sponsoring the first of two Twitter events using the hashtag #snacksmart.

“We are very happy to be working with the USDA and its network of partners to communicate messages to help promote better nutrition,” Nichole Towell, Duda Farm Fresh Foods’ director of marketing, said in the release. “During our busy lives, it can be easy for people to make unhealthy choices when it comes to snacking.”
