The online program through the Braintree, Mass., company, formerly known as Eastern Mass Food Safety, is a certification course designed to prepare industry professionals for mandatory food safety certification exams, according to a news release from the company.
More than 2 million foodservice workers have been certified through the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Exam, according to information on the National Restaurant Association’s website. The online training now available from Eastern Food Safety allows students to prepare for the exam at their own pace.
The training program is accepted by state and local health departments for those food workers who need a Food Manager Certification program as required by state regulations and Food and Drug Administration code, according to the Eastern Food Safety release.
The company also offers an online food safety courses in English and Spanish, private on-site certification classes, and food safety staff workshops. The online ServSafe preparation course includes self tests with certificates of completion.
RiceCindy Rice, president of Eastern Food Safety, is the instructor for the online ServSafe training. She is a certified ServSafe instructor as well as being a certified professional in food safety; registered sanitarian; certified environmental health technician; and certified hazard analysis and critical control point manager.
The online training program allows participants to attend from home or work via any computer, smartphone or mobile device capable of online cloud training.
