Former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann is scheduled to appear at the Tasti-Lee booth Oct. 19 at Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit.

The vine-ripened tomato grower-shipper is scheduled for booth 1129 at the trade show in New Orleans.

Theismann, who led the Washington Redskins to victory over the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XVIII, is slated to meet visitors from 1 to 3 p.m.

Tasti-Lee’s vine-ripened large round tomato is the result of breeding efforts by Oceano, Calif.-based Bejo Seeds Inc. and the University of Florida, according to a news release. It’s produced by growers in Florida and California.

Jeff Trickett is Bejo Seeds’ national sales and marketing director.

Theismann is also a former NFL MVP and holds the Redskins’ record for passing yardage with 25,206.
