The Food and Drug Administration has released more information on upcoming meetings on the Food Safety Modernization Act.
Preceded by a Feb. 28 to March 1 meeting in Washington, D.C., other meetings are slated for hicago and Portland, Ore., according to a news release.
The Chicago meeting is set for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 11 and 8:30 a.m. to noon on March 12, according to the release. The Portland, Ore., meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 27 and 8:30 a.m. to noon March 28.

At the meetings, the FDA will take comments on the proposed produce safety rule for growers and the food safety rule for food facilities, according to the release. They are the first of five proposed rules establishing a foundation for regulations generated from the FSMA, according to the release.

Deadline for comments at the Chicago meeting:
- Feb. 21 is the closing date to request oral comments.
- March 1 is the closing date for advance registrations.
