The Food Marketing Institute has named a new food safety director.
Josh Katz, whose tenure in the industry includes a stint at Davis, Calif.-based third-party certifier Davis Fresh Technologies LLC, will report to Hilary Thesmar, FMI’s vice president of food safety, according to a news release from the Arlington, Va.-based institute.
In addition to working for Davis Fresh, Katz worked for the Charlotte, N.C.-based Steritech Group Inc. and earned a PhD in nutritional biology from the University of California-Davis.
“Josh brings to FMI more than 13 years of robust academic and professional experience, including in-depth knowledge of designing food safety and quality systems,” Thesmar said in the release. “Food safety is of upmost importance to our members and Josh’s farm-to-fork experience will become a valuable asset to our retailers.”
