Food Technology Noord-Oost Nederland B.V., Salinas, Calif., has designed an air dryer for drying fresh salads, vegetables and herbs using air.
This machine extends the quality and shelf life of fresh vegetables due to the use of low humidity, according to a news release.
The machine also uses minimal energy and eliminates bacteria buildup.
This machinery is not in use yet.
“No systems are set up in the U.S. at this time but we are quoting on a couple,” said Gene Rizzo, general manager of FTNON USA.
FTNON creates machines for the fresh convenience industry, for the processing of fresh salads, vegetables, fresh fruit, potatoes and mushrooms, according to the release.
