Jerry Wagner, director of sales and marketing for Nogales-based grower-shipper Farmer’s Best, has retired.

Wagner retired the week of Aug. 5, according to a company official. Steve Yubeta, Farmer’s Best’s vice president of sales, is the company’s new director of sales and marketing.

Wagner began working for Farmer’s Best in 1987. He began his produce career as a quality control inspector at Wagner Distributing, a brokerage owned by his father, Jack.

Wagner then worked for Nogales-based Western Fruit Sales, a division of Florida-based A. Duda & Sons Inc., and later for San Luis Distributors.

Yubeta began working in the produce industry in the late 1980s. He joined Farmer’s Best’s sales desk in 2002.

Yubeta also has worked for Nogales-based Bionova Produce, Nogales-based RB Packing Inc., Los Angeles-based Tanimura Distributing Inc., Nogales-based Lange Trading Co. Inc. and Fresno, Calif.-based W.K. Tawa.
