Farmington Fresh, Tajín ink cross-merchandising deal

Farmington Fresh logoFarmington Fresh has inked a deal to include packets of Tajín International Corp.’s chili pepper-based seasoning with single-serve packs of fresh-cut fruit for foodservice.

Stockton, Calif.-based Farmington Fresh will offer six stock-keeping units of fruit in 2- to 4.7-ounce packs with a single-serve 0.05-ounce packet of low-sodium Tajín.

Fruit choices include sliced red or green apples, sliced pears, sliced peaches and nectarines and orange wedges.

The cross-merchandising deal with the Houston-based seasoning company stems from customer requests, according to a news release.

“The majority of Tajín consumers use the Tajín shaker bottles, but these are often unavailable in foodservice settings, making single-serve sachets a more practical option,” said Bruce Hesse, Farmington Fresh general manager.

This is not the first branded agreement for the grower-packer, either. Farmington Fresh also has worked with C.H. Robinson to pack fresh sliced apples under the Mott’s brand, according to the release.
