Farmers Fresh Fruit Co. logoFarmers Fresh Fruit Co. has launched a new website, www.wegrowgrapes.com, to promote its line of grapes that includes Thomcords, California concords and Sweet Petites champagne grapes.

Accompanying the website will be a social media campaign to educate consumers about the company and the characteristics of each variety.

California concords, for example, are a seeded, dark purple variety similar to those grown in the Northeast, said Shane Souza, vice president of sales.

The Thomcord is a cross between the green Thomson seedless and the concord, resulting in a dime-shaped, dark-skinned virtually seedless round grape.

The seedless Sweet Petites are about the size of pencil erasers and traditionally go into dried zante currants. But Souza said these grapes are grown specifically for the fresh market.

The Reedley, Calif.-based grower-packer-shipper also is running a contest on the Sweet Petites Facebook page where consumers who like the page will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Wal-Mart gift card, he said.

Consumers who retweet the Sweet Petite summer contest image on Twitter also will be entered in a gift card drawing.

The contests run through July 24, but Souza said additional ones are in the works for later this summer.

In addition, Farmers Fresh Fruit has new label designs for its Thomcords and California concords that feature quick-response codes, he said.

When consumers scan the code with their smartphones, they’ll be taken to a website that features recipes and more information about the variety.
