Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is now offering delivery of metal detectors to food processing facilities in less than 48 hours.
The Minneapolis, Minn.-based company launched its rapid-availability program, dubbed Yes!, for its APEX metal detectors March 20, according to a news release.
The industry standard on delivery has been four to six weeks, according to the company.
“Food processors do not have the luxury of waiting several weeks to receive equipment to address a foreign object contamination issue,” Bob Ries, lead product manager for metal detection and X-ray inspection, said in the release.
An international program, it was developed to address issues from crisis response for recalls to equipment failure-related production disruptions.
Thermo Fisher Scientific also touts the faster delivery as a way for processors to cope with imminent customer audits by retailers who mandate foreign object contamination inspection.
The metal detectors come in various feature sets and include the conveyor-based APEX 500 and 100 and the drop-through APEX 300.
