An oversized strawberry and pickle were part of the Feeding America’s “Orange Friday,” celebrating the start of Hunger Action month Sept. 6 at the ballpark.
Fans donated food and money to receive a pre-game snack from participating produce companies. According to the Feeding America website, these companies have committed to donate over 100,000 pounds of fresh produce to Feeding America’s nationwide network of food banks:
- California Giant Berry Farms;
- Cal-Organic Farms;
- Duda Farm Fresh Foods;
- Grimmway Farms; and
- National Watermelon Promotion Board.
Sony Pictures Animation is also collaborating with Feeding America through advertising on retail packs that include codes related to “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.” The codes lead consumers to online recipes, movie information and websites were they can donate to Feeding America. In addition, Sony donated $25,000 to the hunger relief charity in honor of Hunger Action month.
