FirstFruits Marketing, Yakima, Wash., has concluded its fourth annual Take a Bite Out of Hunger program, providing 200,000 pounds of apples to local food banks.
FirstFruits partners with retailers on apple donations to local food banks in the retailer’s name. The retailers contribute the cost of freight and the Take a Bite Out of Hunger program provides retail support with campaign-themed polybags and merchandisers, point-of-sale cards and ad slicks.
This year’s participating retailers include Ahold, A&P, Grocery Outlet, Harveys, Dave’s Marketplace and United Supermarkets, with support from C&S Wholesale Grocers.
Total donations in the program’s first 4 years are one million pounds of apples.
