Dan Jones is general manager of Flavor 1st Growers & Packers Inc.

He has responsibility for managing 185 employees and an 80,000-square-foot facility for Hendersonville, N.C.-based Flavor 1st.

Jones comes to the company from Vero Beach, Fla.-based Seald Sweet International, where he was export sales manager for two years. Before that he spent 21 years at DNE World Fruit Sales, Fort Pierce, Fla., as an operations manager and export salesman.

“I was born and raised here, so this is hometown,” Jones said of the Hendersonville area, where he grew up on an apple orchard.

“I always wanted to move back to my roots on the family farm, so this gave me an opportunity to do that.”

He started Nov. 1. It's a new position at Flavor 1st. Plant operations were previously overseen by chief executive officer Brian Rose.

Flavor 1st grows and repacks produce for retail, wholesale and open-air fresh markets. The company owns and operates farms in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. It also has contracts with vegetable growers in the Southeast.
