Florida PR firm launches crisis division

At the Table Public RelationsTampa, Fla.-based At the Table Public Relations has added a division specializing in crisis communications for events such as foodborne illness, recalls, major storms or workplace accidents.

The firm has provided crisis preparation training and tools for the Georgia Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association, restaurants and food product companies, according to a news release.

Current and past clients include the Georgia Pecan Commission, which At the Table has represented for 16 years; the Georgia Peach Council; Georgia Blueberry Commission; Vidalia Onion Commission; Sweetbay Supermarkets; National Watermelon Promotion Board and Bolthouse Farms.

“While we have always provided this service to our clients, our new crisis communications division highlights our expertise in assisting firms and working with them to take a proactive approach,” Cheryl Miller, principal and chief executive officer, said in the release.

Having a crisis plan in place can limit damage to reputation and sales, said Bill Barlow, the firm’s business strategist.

At the Table is a member of the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association, the Agricultural Institute of Florida, and Georgia Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association.
