AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. — Katelyn Kelley, who has represented Florida’s watermelon industry, is the 2012 National Watermelon Queen.
Kelley was crowned at the National Watermelon Association’s annual awards banquet Feb. 25, the concluding event of the Lakeland-based association’s convention.
Kelley, 22, plans to graduate in May from the University of Florida with a degree in telecommunications and a minor in business. She is the daughter of Kevin and Anna Kelley of Branford.
Kelley succeeds Whitney Conner of Georgia.
Finalists included Sabra Boyd, Illiana; Jordan Calloway, Mar-Del; Veronica Kraemer, Texas; Alycia McLamb, North Carolina; Jenna Saxon, Georgia; and Holly Whatley, South Carolina.
