(UPDATED COVERAGE, Feb. 17): Lipman is adding a produce foodservice veteran to boost West Coast business.

Glenn Davis has joined the Immokalee, Fla.-based Lipman as director of western operations.

LiipmanDavis has more than 30 years of fresh produce industry experience, including nearly 10 years at FreshPoint Inc., Houston-based Sysco Corp.’s fresh produce distributor, where he was a regional vice president.

Before FreshPoint, where he oversaw four operating companies, Davis was an owner and president of an independent California produce company, Stockton, Calif.-based Davis Lay Inc., and a partner in the Modesto, Calif.-based Piranha and Mallards Food Products Inc.

In his new role, Davis oversees business development to increase Lipman’s presence in retail and foodservice and guides western division product line expansions though all types of produce, according to a news release.

“Glenn offers the ideal combination of fresh produce expertise and executive leadership skill,” Kent Shoemaker, Lipman’s chief executive officer, said in the release. “We’re confident he will lead his region with forward-thinking strategy, helping to expand our western division presence in all aspects of retail and foodservice.”

Davis will be based at Lipman’s office in Manteca, Calif.

Lipman grows, ships, repacks, processes and distributes tomatoes and other vegetables throughout North America.
