Former Kraft Foods executive heads AMS

Anne Alonzo, AMS administratorCourtesy AMSAnne Alonzo now heads the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Services.Anne Alonzo, a former executive from Kraft Foods Inc., is the administrator of the Agricultural Marketing Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

As vice president of global public policy and corporate affairs at Kraft, her responsibilities included the company’s efforts in sustainability, trade, tariffs and taxes.

Before Kraft, Alonzo was deputy assistant secretary for the International Trade Administration with the Department of Commerce and environmental attaché to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. She began her career as an attorney with the Environmental Protection Agency.

In the non-profit private sector, Alonzo was senior vice president at the National Foreign Trade Council and worked with Congress on the passage of the free trade agreements with Dominican Republic and Central America. She also worked with the private sector group that promoted trade agreements with Panama, Peru and Colombia.

Alonzo’s honors include the Commerce Department’s Bronze Medal, U.S. Trade and Development Agency’s Exporter of the Year award, the U.S. Civil Rights Excellence Award and the Outstanding Service Award from the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico.
