The University of Florida is welcoming back former faculty member Nick Place as the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences dean for extension and director of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service.
Place will officially take the position Sept. 15, according to a news release.
“I’m thrilled that we were able to find someone with the energy, vision and character that Dr. Place has,” said Jack Payne, UF senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources, in the release. “That he’s already familiar with the University of Florida, our land-grant mission and the people here — that’s a bonus.”
Place is currently the associate dean and associate director of University of Maryland Extension, College Park, Md.
Previously, he worked for UF’s department of agricultural education and communication for eight years, according to the release.
