Derrick Bender is now vice president of new business development for Fowler Packing, a grower-packer-shipper of stone fruit, table grapes and clementines in Fowler, Calif.
Expansion of Fowler’s domestic and international programs across the company’s entire portfolio of products will be the focus of Bender’s new job, according to a news release.
Bender has 18 years of experience in the industry, including a stint as national sales director for Bolthouse Farms, Bakersfield, Calif. At Bolthouse he worked to develop the company’s sales and merchandising efforts. Bender also worked for Dole Fresh Vegetables in several positions, including regional sales manager for value-added products in Salinas, Calif., according to the release.
Fowler, a third-generation company, has a 650,000-square-foot facility where 80% of the fruit packed comes from family-owned acreage.
