The Nunes Co. and Blazer Wilkinson LP are planning a joint summer promotion of Foxy-labeled strawberries and vegetables with a restaurant at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa.

It’s dubbed Locally Overboard.

Schooners Coastal Kitchen & Bar at the Monterey, Calif., hotel will incorporate kale, romaine and baby broccoli in various menu items. Foxy strawberries – sourced in the Salinas Valley by Blazer Wilkinson — will be included in a barbecued shrimp salad; desserts; and a Foxy Lady Fizz cocktail, according to a news release.

The berries will also be used in spa items such as a facial mask; a foot and hand scrub; and a hair conditioner used in a scalp massage and mask.

Strawberries used in the promotion will be harvested, cooled and transported to the hotel on the same day.

The berries and vegetables offer the restaurant locally and sustainably grown fresh produce, executive chef James Waller said in the release.

“This summer-long promotion will show consumers visiting from around the world that produce from California’s Salinas Valley is the best anywhere,” Alethea Prewett, digital marketing coordinator for Salinas-based The Nunes Co., said in the release.
