Triou became Fresh Solutions’ president and chief executive officer Feb. 10, according to a company news release. She succeeds Sherrie Terry, who announced she was leaving earlier this month to start a consulting company.
Fresh Solutions is a marketing company made up of several grower-shippers of potatoes, onions and sweet potatoes.
“We are very excited to bring Kathleen on board to lead our next phase of growth,” David Masser, Fresh Solution’s chairman, said in the release. “Kathleen has extensive experience in the produce industry and we are confident that as our new president and CEO, she will be able to take FSN to the next level by developing new strategies for increasing demand and consumption for fresh potatoes, sweet potatoes and onions.”
Triou said she looks forward to working with retail and foodservice customers on custom marketing services.
“My whole career, and particularly the time I spent at the U.S. Potato Board, has given me actionable insights into shopper behavior and category dynamics,” Triou said in the release. “These learnings fueled a passion in me to elevate category performance for both the retailer and/or foodservice operator as well as the grower.”
Before joining Fresh Solutions, Triou was chief marketing officer for Avocados From Mexico. Prior to that, she was vice president of domestic marketing for the U.S. Potato Board.
Triou is the second executive to leave Avocados From Mexico in recent months. Tim O’Connor, the group’s chief executive officer, left in September.
Triou joined Avocados in Mexico in July after five years at the potato board. Before joining the board, she worked for two years at Seismicom Inc., a marketing agency whose clients included Chiquita and Fresh Express.
