Freshway Foods plans to show new summer salads at the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association conference June 1-3.

They’re designed to be assembled in-store as a deli salad.

Samples of Freshway’s Super Veggie Detox and 5-A-Day Plus salads will be offered at booth 2154 during the trade show at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. They contain nutrient-dense ingredients – or superfoods – such as kale, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, beets and mangos, according to a news release.

Among the salad kits are:

  • Kale Pear;
  • Asian Powerhouse;
  • Tangy Orange Fruit Salad;
  • Sweet Onion Bacon Slaw;
  • Curried Cauliflower;
  • Tropical Island, for grab-and go; and
  • Fruity Berry, for grab-and-go.

“We have seen a trend of stores adding kale, beets, brussels sprouts and healthy salad kits, like our 5-A-Day Plus salad, to attract new customers to their salad bars,” Kirk Norman, director of business development for the Sidney, Ohio-based processor and distributor, said in the release. “Today’s consumers…would like to purchase healthy salads from their local deli department or salad bar.”
