Los Alamitos, Calif.-based Frieda’s Inc. is suggesting ways retailers can market fresh produce during grilling season.
“Fourth of July grilling is all about summer traditions like hot dogs and burgers, but consumers are also looking to change things up a bit and make their menu a little healthier by adding more fruits and vegetables,” said Karen Caplan, president and chief executive officer of Frieda’s, said in a news release.
Frieda’s suggests adding variety with a few examples:
Star Spangled Spuds — red, white and blue potatoes;
Stokes purple sweet potatoes;
Fresh ghost and Trinidad scorpion chilies, two of the hottest peppers;
Fresh figs; and
Yellow seedless watermelon.
