Los Alamitos, Calif.-based Frieda’s Specialty Produce continues to celebrate the Year of Purple while encouraging merchandisers to group purple produce items together to create displays that will prompt purchases.

“As we continue to celebrate the Year of Purple at Frieda’s, we notice that the purple produce trend continues to grow,” Karen Caplan, president and chief executive officer of Frieda’s, said in a news release. “When retailers group purple produce items together, it creates a purple destination display that will peak shoppers’ curiosity and draw them in to buy something they haven’t seen or tasted before.”

Frieda’s purple produce items include three varieties of artichokes (sangria, Fiore viola and Fiesole), graffiti eggplant, cauliflower, radicchio, Stokes purple sweet potatoes, kale sprouts and concord grapes, according to the release.

Retailers who are celebrating the Year of Purple can submit photos of their displays to Frieda’s promotions manager, Alex Jackson, at alex.jackson@friedas.com.
