Frieda Rapoport Caplan, the founder of Frieda’s Inc., was mentioned as a trendsetter in David Sax’s new book “The Tastemakers: Why We’re Crazy for Cupcakes But Fed Up with Fondue.”
The book, released in June, uncovers the world of food trends, including where they come from, how they grow and where they end up, according to a news release.
“Agriculture’s tastemakers are arguably the most potent trendsetters in the world,” James Beard Award-winning author Sax said in the book.
Sax shares his chat with Karen Caplan, Frieda’s daughter and the president and chief executive officer of Frieda’s Inc., and how Frieda Caplan helped make kiwifruit an everyday fruit. The book credits Frieda Caplan’s introduction of other specialty fruits and vegetables to the U.S. market as innovations that influence Americans eating habits.
