Wearing team shirts in purple with the slogan “Eat one fruit a day that scares you,” Frieda’s Inc. staff members ran in a 5-kilometer race at Los Alamitos, Calif.
The shipper of specialty fruits and vegetables is based in the city. For some employees, the 33rd annual Southland Credit Union Los Alamitos Race on the Base Feb. 22 was their first race ever.
“In addition to our commitment to change the way America eats fruits and vegetables as a way to support Americans increasing their consumption of fresh produce, we also have a strong commitment to our community and the wellness of our employees,” Karen Caplan, president and chief executive officer of Frieda’s Inc., said in a news release.
The event benefited the USA Water Polo National Training Center and the Morale Welfare Recreation for Military program, both at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base.
