“We have successfully helped many of our retail partners roast Hatch chilies at their stores,” Karen Caplan, president and chief executive officer of Los Alamitos, Calif.-based Frieda’s, said in a news release.
The green Hatch is a favorite of chile pepper aficionados, Caplan said. Frieda’s plans to offer three heat levels — mild, medium and hot. They will ship in 25-pound cases.
The chilies are grown in the Mesilla Valley near Hatch, N.M.
