New for the 2014 season is a 3-pound bag packed 12 to a carton, as well as 15- and 40-pound bulk cartons, according to a news release.
All potatoes will be labeled to reduce cashier errors.
The Stokes Purple Sweet Potato, grown in California, has purple skin and deep purple flesh.
The company is offering organic and conventional versions of the product.
“We sold out of our entire crop last year in late January — not one single sweet potato left behind for both conventional crop and our organic pilot program,” president and chief executive officer Karen Caplan said in the release. “So we planted a lot more this year, so we can have year-round supply. These tubers are extremely popular with shoppers for their gorgeous color and well-balanced flavor.”
