Several fruit and vegetable statistical reports have been suspended as a result of funding cuts at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service said in mid-November that the agency will not conduct a number of statistical surveys in fiscal year 2014 (Oct. 1, 2013 to Sept. 30, 2014) because of sequestration-level funding in place, the agency said in a news release.

“The decision to suspend these reports was not made lightly, but it was nevertheless necessary, given the funding situation,” the agency said in the news release.

The suspended reports include:

  • potato stocks report;
  • NASS will publish the Non-Citrus Fruit and Nut Annual Summary, but there will be no forecasts, no preliminary summary and no monthly prices in 2014.
  • NASS will publish the Vegetable Annual Summary, but there will be no forecasts or monthly prices in 2014.
