GS1 US conference open for registration

Supply chain standard setter GS1 US has opened registration for its annual conference.

GS1 Connect 2013, June 10-13, will be at the JW Marriot San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas, according to a news release from Lawrenceville, N.J.-based GS1 US.

The keynote speaker at this year’s event is Gary Kovacs, chief executive officer of Mozilla Corp, according to the release.

Kovacs, with past leadership roles at Sybase, Adobe, and IBM, will speak June 12 on the fast-changing digital landscape, according to the release.

GS1 Connect 2013 offers an expanded pre-conference education program that will include the Barcode Professional Certification course, as well as the Introduction to the GS1 System of Standards course, according to the release. GS1 US has added an advanced course as well. The program also now includes an “(Electronic Data Interchange) Essentials” track, according to the release.

The event offers expanded exhibit hours. with a combined 15 hours slated for June 11-12.

“GS1 Connect enables communities to come together in order to solve supply chain problems, improve business operations, and create better customer experiences,” Rodney McMullen, president and chief operating officer of the The Kroger Co., and chairman of the GS1 US Board of Governors, said in the release.
