The Georgia Blueberry Commission is sponsoring a recipe contest in June.
The Sweet Georgia Blues Recipe Contest will run through the month in celebration of Georgia Blueberry Month, according to a news release from the Waycross-based commission.
Consumers can create recipes, take photographs of them and post them on the commission’s website, www.GeorgiaBlueberries.org, and Facebook page, where voters will pick the contest’s winners.
Recipes can be posted beginning June 1. Winners will be announced July 8.
First prize is $500, and second and third prize is a basket with blueberry jams, an autographed copy of Hugh Acheson’s “A New Turn in the South Cookbook” and other items.
“June is the peak of our season and we want consumers to be as excited about Georgia Blueberry Month as we are,” Joe Cornelius, the commission’s chairman, said in the release. “Hosting this month-long recipe contest is a great way to do that. Plus, we’re looking forward to seeing all the new recipes we can try.”
