The Georgia Pecan Commission is using the popularity of Pinterest to bring attention to Georgia pecans this fall. The commission created its first “Fall in Love with Georgia Pecans Pin-It to Win-It” contest for the social media site to get consumers excited about the antioxidant rich nut.
The competition, beginning Sept. 15, allows users to create and browse pinboards featuring pecans and to save recipes using pecans in advance of the holiday season. Pinners interested in winning $500 can make a “Love GA Pecans” Pinterest board and pin five Georgia Pecan Commission recipes. The link to the Pinterest board is then submitted by participants to the Georgia Pecan Commission’s Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/GeorgiaPecansCommission. All submissions must be completed by midnight on Oct. 15 to remain eligible.
“Creating a Georgia Pecans Pinterest board is a natural extension of our consumer outreach,” said John Robison, chairman of the Georgia Pecan Commission, in a news release. “This contest is a fun way to get pecan lovers excited about the upcoming harvest season by having them share their favorite recipes.”
