To promote the state’s agricultural industry, the George Department of Agriculture is opening a Georgia Grown building at the state’s agricultural fairgrounds.
The agency is joining the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in sponsoring the Georgia Grown building during the 2013 Georgia National Fair, scheduled for Oct. 3-13, in Perry.
The building will feature 20,000 square feet of space dedicated to agricultural products produced and manufactured by Georgia businesses, according to a news release.
The organizations plan to keep the building in operation for all 11 days of the fair, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Last year, more than 445,000 people visited the fair and organizers believe the addition of the Georgia Grown building could help increase attendance, according to the release.
