Gerawan Farming, Sanger, Calif., the nation’s largest stone fruit grower-shipper, is a sponsor and first-time exhibitor for the 2012 Fresno Food Expo.
“We love to tell our story, and supporting the local community is important to us,” Denver Schutz, Gerawan Farming’s technical services manager, said in a news release.
Gerawan Farming, founded in 1938, remains family owned and operated and grows apricots, nectarines, peaches, plums and table grapes on more than 10,000 acres in the San Joaquin Valley. It packs under the Prima label.
The second annual expo, on March 8, is at the Fresno Entertainment & Convention Center, according to the release, to allow twice the exhibitor space of the inaugural show.
The first Fresno Food Expo attracted nearly 70 San Joaquin Valley grower-shippers, food processors and foodservice operators and 170 buyer representatives from retail and foodservice chains, according to a news release.
Other fresh produce sponsors of the upcoming expo include the California Raisin Marketing Board, Fresno; Cuties Cooperative, Bakersfield; Grimmway Farms, Bakersfield; and Homegrown Organic Farms, Porterville.
