Media, Pa.-based Global Cooling Inc. is rolling out its Jet Precooler in a kit to rapidly cool fresh produce.

The company introduced the product earlier in 2011 as an affordable method of precooling to preserve freshness.

Shipped to packinghouses for assembly, Global Cooling provides setup drawings and details. The operator provides the mounting skid and bracing, such as on a pallet and plywood or on stainless steel, according to a news release.

The Jet Precooler is placed in a cold room that has enough cooling capacity and airflow. Once installed, the machinery can pull field or packinghouse heat out of up to 10 pallets at a time, according to the release.

The Jet airflow typically can reduce the produce temperature to within 4-5 degrees of the room temperature, Global Cooling officials stated in the release.
