Global Food Safety Forum plans to host the China Agribusiness and Food Safety Investment Summit in Beijing later this month.
It’s set for June 20-21 at the Friendship Hotel. The nonprofit forum, which promotes food safety for Chinese companies, is managed by Alexandria, Va.-based GIC Group and Beijing-based Bric Agricultural Consultants Ltd.
Banks, venture capital and private equity firms attending are scheduled to include JP Morgan; Industrial and Commercial Bank of China; Olympus Capital Holdings; and CITIC Private Equity Funds Management. Chinese agribusiness and food companies, plus officials and regulators, will also participate.
“We’re targeting the food safety technology space for investment opportunities inside and outside China,” said Rick Gilmore, forum chairman. “The basic premise is that food safety, quality and compliance are prerequisites to growth.”
Topics include new investment regulations for foreign entities, internationalization of the yuan, and the food safety investment needs of small and medium-sized companies.
The forum’s recently established China Council will also meet for the first time.
