Gold Coast Packing Inc. has adopted a new logo to reflect growth at the company that includes ongoing construction of a processing plant and cold storage facility.

The Santa Maria, Calif.-based grower-shipper and processor is partnering with Babe Farms on the 100,000-square foot site, expected to open in September or October.

“We’re opening this new facility and the logo needed to reflect something a little fresher as to what Gold Coast has become and where we’re heading in the future,” said Brent Scattini, vice president of sales.

The logo colors have changed, and lettering — “Fresh Healthy Produce Since 1978” — has been added.

“It reinforces the business we’re in and the longevity of our company,” Scattini said.

A picture of a ship — which represents Santa Maria — remains the same.

The new logo appears this month in point-of-sale materials and tradeshow booths.

“We’ll start implementing it on packaging materials in the fall,” he said.

Gold Coast Packing grows and processes broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, cilantro and parsley.

“We do a lot of customized packing for national restaurant chains,” Scattini said. “It’s all processed, predominately for foodservice.”

Babe Farms and Gold Coast Packing will share the facility when construction is complete. About 150 employees will operate the plant six days weekly.

Babe Farms offers specialty salads and baby vegetables for foodservice.
