The Fresh Produce & Floral Council, La Mirada, Calif., has unveiled a 50th anniversary logo that it plans to use throughout 2015.

Initially the logo will be used in all promotions of the trade group’s annual dinner dance, set for Jan. 24 at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, Calif. The dance — where the next board of directors will be introduced — will have a golden anniversary theme.

The anniversary will also be marked at membership luncheons in 2015, council president Carissa Mace said in a news release.

“They won’t be big parts of the luncheon programs, but we will acknowledge some milestones and pay tribute to the industry leaders who helped establish the council in its early years,” she said.

The organization was established in 1965 as the Fresh Produce Council, following the first meeting of industry leaders at Cal Poly Pomona earlier that year. The name was later changed to the Fresh Produce & Floral Council to recognize the floral side of the industry.

It has more than 360 member companies representing in excess of 900 individual contacts.
