The 29th annual Don Strock Diabetes Golf Classic was May 9 at the Miccosukee Golf and Country Club, and raised $125,000 for the institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, according to a news release.
Fishbein was the tournament chairman.
Some of the celebrity participants included current Miami Dolphins players Dan Carpenter, John Denney and Brandon Fields.
Deborah Chodrow, chief operating officer for the institute’s foundation, said more than $2.5 million has been raised so far.
“Because of your support, curing diabetes has been and will continue to be the (institute’s) singular goal,” she said in the release.
Charity sponsors included The Produce Connection, Global Perishable Services LLP, American Fruit & Produce Corp., M&R Produce Distributors, C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Sierra Produce, and Quality First Produce.
