Canadian sprout grower Aquafuchsia Foods Inc. is recalling an unknown volume of alfalfa sprouts from unspecified retailers because of possible salmonella contamination.
The possible contamination was discovered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency during a routine sampling, according to the Feb. 25 recall notice posted by the agency. No illnesses have been reported in relation to the recalled sprouts.
Attempts to reach the Montreal sprout growing company for comment were not successful.
Aquafuchsia’s fresh sprout product “Salad Plus — Alfalfa with a touch of radish!” was distributed the in Quebec province in 125-gram (4.25-ounces) packages with a universal product code of 05511761 are included in the recall, according to the CFIA notice.
The Canadian agency is conducting an investigation and verifying that the recalled product is removed from the marketplace.
