An Ontario fresh produce importer, Vitale Produce Ltd., has closed after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency suspended its license in relation to alleged outstanding debts.

The agency suspended the Windsor, Ontario, company’s license effective March 26, according to a notice on the compliance and enforcement page of the agency’s website.

The suspension is not related to food safety, according to the notice.

“The company’s licence was cancelled as a result of non-compliance with the (Canadian) Licensing and Arbitration Regulations. Specifically, the cancellation follows a review of recent industry complaints related to failure to address outstanding debts,” according to the notice.
