Two allied industry members are thanking Florida’s citrus industry for its support by contributing to the state’s citrus hall of fame.

Grant to help Florida preserve citrus industry heritageHESCO, Waverly, Fla., a leading supplier of industrial adhesives, packaging films and cornerboards, and Macro Plastics Inc., Fairfield, Calif., a bulk plastic container manufacturer, are providing $10,000 to the Florida Citrus Hall of Fame, Lakeland, to help the Florida Citrus Archives preserve remnants of the state’s citrus heritage.

The grant should allow the hall of fame to hire two students to work with the organization’s archivist to digitize, protect and store the state’s citrus industry heritage, according to a news release.

“Our business with and service to the citrus industry has grown,” Peter Piccioli, Macro Plastics’ vice president, said in the release. “Celebrating the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Hall of Fame with this grant is our way of acknowledging its importance.”

The state’s citrus archives are housed at Florida Southern College in Lakeland.
