Rodgers, who has six years produce sales experience, began his career at Eden Prairie, Minn.-based C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc., before moving to Freedom Fresh LLC in Miami and most recently, selling for Melbourne, Fla.-based Sweet Onion Trading Corp.
Rodgers has supervised the Vero Beach, Fla.-based Greene River’s harvesting since 2012.
In his new role, Rodgers will be responsible for business and account development and will work with the company’s marketing personnel to increase grower returns and meet customer’s needs, according to a news release.
“His knowledge of every aspect of the business from the field to the consumer will be invaluable when working with the trade,” Greene River officials said in the release.
Greene River markets 3.7 million cartons of grapefruit, oranges and tangerines from 4,500 acres, which includes its own groves and those of Vero Beach-based Leroy Smith Inc. and the Oslo Citrus Growers Association Inc. The company also markets domestic fruit for Vero Beach-based Riverfront Packing Co. LLC.
