Greener Fields Together — the sustainability and local produce initiative of Monterey, Calif.-based distributor Pro*Act — is among the sponsors of the Sept. 13 Farm Aid concert.
The event features such artists as Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews at the Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh, N.C. It raises funds for family-owned farms and supports the Good Food Movement.
“Supporting local farms and sustainably raised fresh produce is a big part of our Greener Fields Together mission,” Max Yeater, Pro*Act president, said in a news release. “It’s a passion that we share with the Farm Aid organization and we’re happy to support the effort with our sponsorship.”
Greener Fields Together, a returning sponsor, will again participate in Farm Aid’s Homegrown Village. There a stage features live music, artist and farmer interviews. A skills tent provides a range of local agrarian and homesteading presentations. Other exhibitors invite concert-goers to participate in hands-on food and farm activities.
In partnership with Foster-Caviness, Greener Fields Together plans to donate produce from local growers for the artist backstage catering venue and the Homegrown Village concessions.
The annual Farm Aid event was established in 1985.
